Smithville - "Best Kept Secret"

A Community Nestled in the Pines

The city of Smithville was incorporated back in 1895. Smithville is a beautiful city on the banks of the Colorado River approximately 50 miles southeast of Austin, the capital of Texas and 15 miles east of Bastrop. Smithville is located among the Lost Pines of Texas, where the community enjoys the shade of the many old oak and pecan trees. The population of Smithville is approximately 4,339; it is a peaceful and quiet community. The City of Smithville boasts the only airport facility in the county. In the midst of the small town the schools are defiantly not lacking. Smithville Independent School District has received exemplary accreditation with faculty members who go that extra mile for the students.
